Chess forks
One piece, two problems. Forks win games at every level — especially when you forget to ask what a knight can jump to.
The idea in one minute
A fork attacks two targets at once. Knights love royal forks (king + queen/rook). Pawns fork pieces on diagonals. Queens can fork too — but the pattern to automate first is the knight jump.
Scan habit
Before a quiet move:
- Where can their knight land with check?
- If I move this piece, do I leave two units on a forkable shape?
- After captures, re-check knight jumps — the board changed
Train from your games
Generic puzzle rush helps a little. Tagging the exact fork you missed last night helps a lot. EloForge turns those moments into today’s lesson.
Who it suits
Beginners through club players who still drop material to one-move double attacks.
